She hadn't wanted to come to the movie night event, but her husband and children had badgered her all day about going. Normally she would have made some excuse; pretending to have a headache, or faking a sudden wave of nausea to prevent going, but she hadn't been able to do anything about it this time. They had all looked at her with those angelic, hopeful expressions and the little bit of niceness left in her decided she couldn't say no this time. So now she was there, at the park, unfolding lawn chairs for each of them while her family had gone off in search of food and snacks.

Hopefully it wouldn't be too much torture, and she'd be left alone to survive the misery of being out in public with all the townspeople. It was making an appearance after all, and while it might be a painful thing for her, it put on a good face. That's what keeping their little secret was all about, making everyone think they were just normal people.  Once she had their little picnic area set up, Caroline sat down in her lawn chair, and sighed with relief.  Stage one of movie night complete.  Now all she had to endure was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  Whoever had thought of showing that movie needed to be decapitated and sliced into several pieces, put into a brew, and used in some sort of evil potion.  Her lips turned upward into a quirky smile just thinking about it.  Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all ?

Welcome to the land of trees... Honestly Alistar didn't know what to do with himself. What was there to do in this city? He was used to the bright lights of major cities like New York or LA. He missed LA, but there was no going back there after someone he thought was a close friend betrayed him. The thought made him glance to his coat where a note had been folded a couple times telling him of this little town. He hadn't believed it when they mentioned the witches had hidden it from people, so he came to explore naturally. That was how he found himself at the movie event that night. Normally he would've scoffed at such things but he was finding himself a little bit lonely. The concept of being lonely wasn't one Alistar was used to in the least. The cyan eyes peered over the crowds in thought before he took a step onto the grass knowing that he'd have to at least try to be the least bit social with the towns people if he didn't want them thinking he was some evil beastie here with the wrong intentions in mind for their precious town. In fact he wasn't even a part of the evil or good alignments that seemed to be going about. No good old Allie was simply neutral. “Like the Swiss.” He murmured to himself, the Irish brogue sounding like a purr.


That was when he spotted a woman by herself looking almost disdained that she had to be at such an event. He himself had no issue with Snow White. Though the Grimm Brother's take on it was one he liked much more. Always the cynic wasn't he? Heh. Shifting his weight he looked over the woman almost thoughtfully, pausing when he noticed that quirk of a smile. He... Didn't want to know what thoughts had crossed her mind to suddenly make her happy. Something about the woman seemed off, he didn't think too much on it though. He didn't know what he'd say. 'Hey the evil Queen familiar to you?' Yeah perhaps not. So instead he found a spot to make himself comfortable, throwing Caroline another glance, before offering a grin in her direction. “Ello lass.” He spoke out, deciding to approach her even if he thought it was a bad idea. “Are these movie events normal?” He asked with a smile. “I'm new to the town so trying to get used to their normal daily things.” He did his best not to show his fangs as he spoke. “I'm Alistar O'Riley.”

She jumped when a voice interrupted her thoughts about boiling a decapitated and cut up body into a brew. How dare someone say something to her? Couldn't they see she had been thinking about something nice?!  She kept her anger deep inside of her thoughts and put off a friendly expression instead; determined to keep up a sense of normality.  "Normal, yes.  There's a new movie showing every weekend, it's sort of popular around here, since there's not much else to do, if you know what I mean." 

Caroline winked at the man, and while she did she looked at him for a moment.  He was different and strange in appearance, but other than that he seemed perfectly normal to her.  "There's food over there, if you're hungry."  She pointed to the array of stands sitting at the edge of the park, where many people were waiting in line to get whatever type of food they wanted.  Her family would probably come back with everything sweet, as it seemed they had a likeness for sugar.  Her husband would probably bring her something totally disgusting, like one of those hot dogs, or cotton candy, and she'd pretend to like it and eat it.  

"Most everyone comes, normally."  He had said his name was Alistar O'Riley, and he had an accent.  Such a strange thing for this part of the world.  "My name is Caroline Chandler.  I've lived here all my life...so if you have any more questions feel free to ask."  The fact that he was  newcomer meant their spell of protection was getting even more weaker by the second.  They'd have to have another meeting of some sort to discuss this.  Maybe Sarah would have another one of he brilliant ideas and they'd even have to sacrifice someone.

He noticed the way she jumped, the faint flicker in her eyes as if she wanted to stick a knife in him. Oh it was lovely to see the locals were friendly people, right? Who's he trying to kid. When the expression came to a light normal one, he seemed to relax seeming almost thoughtful to the woman he had spoken to. Well at least it didn't seem like she wanted him dead just yet. Fingers crossed. “Small cities, I suppose that's a common thing, boredom. Makes the community more close knit in the end.” The cyan eyes sparkled with their own inner warmth. This city had secrets and Alistar didn't think he wanted to mess with it. Cocking his head to the side in thought he glanced toward the screen. It wasn't like he hadn't seen the movie before. When he owned the Casino Royale back in LA they had kids events to bring the parents in to spend their cash. So this wasn't a bad idea in the least. A shame that they were making it free, meant they weren't making a profit like they could've been. Right, he's not here to exploit the city for money. No in fact he's just curious about the people here, not to mention he's going to have to find a source of blood soon enough because eating off animals was...disgusting.

When she mentioned food he gave a soft laugh, the charming noise seeming light. “I noticed but I'm not much of a sugary movie kind of person. I like my food a little more substantial.” Was all he spoke for a moment not intending to give away the fact he's not a human. Not many people like the presence of vampires about them. He glanced to where he saw children and a man getting snacks. “Your family?” He asked after a moment, turning the keen gaze back to the witch. He didn't know what she was but something about her felt off. It was there was a darkness there that wanted out. It didn't want to be held back. Goody he always did enjoy having a little bit of a stroll through the dark. It had been ages since he got into any proper trouble. Though it would be impolite to ask out right what kind of human she was, so he wasn't going to say anything about it. In fact the more they acted normal the better, right?

“Oh that's good to hear so I'll find plenty of locals to make myself familiar with.” He mused those words aloud giving a charming smile. “Charmed to meet you Caroline.” The voice was a soft purr, he looked at perfect ease there in the park. Truth be told, something about her struck him as odd. “I think I'll have plenty of questions for you, if you don't mind.” He glanced to her family. “Like the fact you feel different than a normal human.” The cool gaze shifted back to settle on the dark witch. “Plenty to talk about.”

Her gaze shifted to her family as they bought their food when he mentioned them and the hair on under side of her arms lifted, signaling to her that the question wasn't as innocent as it seemed. What did he want with her family? She squelched a protective surge of anger and narrowed her eyes when he said she didn't seem like a normal human to her. What the hell did that mean? She was just sitting there, in her lawn chair. It wasn't like she had her broom out and was flying around, or even a cauldron brewing potions. No, she was there, just like everyone else.

"I beg your pardon?  Yes that's my family.  I have three children...and they're all..." She hesitated slightly, desperately trying to find something good to say about them.  "They're all delightful."  The word delightful was just drenched with sarcasm, but what else could she possibly say to the stranger? Her two oldest children were a hassle, and her youngest was just..naive and innocent.  And her husband exhausted her with his unconditional love and goodness.  If only they knew who she really was.  

"I'm just as normal as you.  Just sitting here, waiting for the movie to start," she said with a slight laugh.  "Though admittedly I'll probably fall asleep.  It's not necessarily the most entertaining film they could have shown."  She winked at him and ran a nervous hand through her hair.  Not normal...was he on to her?  What had he meant exactly?  Now she was getting nervous, and she hoped he didn't see how truly shaken she was.

The nonsense of conversation was boring Elizabeth to be blunt. However, she knew she needed to keep up her facade as long as she could. Being who she was, the Governor's wife. She had to be all smiles for the benefit. She made her way through the swarms of people, and nearly tripped over a group of small children, no older than eight. They were crawling on the ground looking for something, candy was her best guess.

It wasn't until she heard Caroline's voice that she turned, and stepped over. Naturally, she had eavesdropped for the last minute or so, but had only heard Caroline's response to whatever questions the man had asked. She stepped forward, a fake smile upon her lips. "Normal? None of us are normal, honestly. We're human, and we all act like a bunch of animals. Especially our children." She laughed to herself lightly. "Though I suppose that could be considered 'normal'." She shrugged.

Glancing at the man, she smiled again. "Hello, how are the two of you?" She awaited for a reply.

Caroline breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Elizabeth's voice. Thank the gods, someone was here to rescue her out of this situation. Maybe Alistar would leave her alone now, and if he didn't, she'd make some excuse up even if it meant she had to go find her family before the movie started. Yes, that was it! The perfect excuse for the perfect, loving, caring mother that she was.

"Oh, hello Lizzie!  You and your family should join us, I'm sure my kids would love the company."  She smiled but gave her friend "the" look, the look that meant, this guy is trouble, the look that only her friend would be able to interpret.  It was true there were secrets in this town, and she intended for those secrets to be kept.  She would not be to blame for anyone finding out about them, she'd make sure of that.  Even if she had to somehow - dare she say it - kill this man, she'd do that before she let him blab his mouth about anything if he did figure something out.  That's just how desperate Mrs. Caroline Chandler was feeling.

"Oh, we're doing just fine.  This is Alistar O'Riley, and he's new here.  Isn't that just splendid?"

Well he didn't know how to feel about the two lovely women there. The pale eyes showed a little bit of a curious glance to them before he shook his head. ”Human, yeah.” He smiled in a good natured manner. ”Lovely looking family.” Was all he said in response to that, he didn't have any nefarious thoughts on his mind. In fact he was mostly curious about the locals in the city. So the fact he caught the scent of witch more often than not suggested at there being a coven. Interesting the last coven he ran into had been in Louisiana, near the Baton Rouge area. When the conversation drifted to the children acting like animals Allie was at a bit of a loss what to say considering he never really had children of his own to know. He had sired other vampires and that was like having a child. Not a job he could pretend to even like in the long run, so kudos to the women for having the energy to chase after them for so many years. At least for him making vampires he could tell them to shoo sooner than later.

He hadn't missed the implications in her words, but despite that tried his best to ignore the creeping feeling on his spine suggesting he best get the hell out of there before the local witches decided he'd be a perfect piece of a spell. No Allie had enough fun with witches in the past screwing up his life, he was aiming for a different path this time. Taking an unneeded breath he intended on keeping up the pretenses of looking human. It was something he did when in a new place that way the locals didn't look at him weird and think he was some sort of monster. Heck most places didn't like vampires to begin with. ”I'm excellent, thank you for asking.” The Irish accent purred in his voice as he watched Elizabeth curiously. Even the stench of witch was rolling off of her too. Oh the joys of living in a small city, mm? It was at that time Allie decided if he could, he'd avoid the witches.

”What of yourself? Are you well?” He asked warmly, always one to enjoy a good conversation. He glanced to Caroline politely, and then back to Elizabeth. Witches were not to be messed with, in fact he respected the boundaries between races.

A slight laugh fell from her lips, but she nodded. "Of course, I'll try and bring them over once I can find them again. They're all running around like chickens' with their heads cut off." Elizabeth gave a warming smile to the two of them, and turned her head so her expression was out of view from Alistar. "Splendid." She widened her eyes a bit, letting Caroline know she was alright to calm down. "You're very welcome, and yes. I'm doing quite well. Just awaiting for my husband to finish his walk through the crowds." She laughed lightly again.

"I'm sure he'd love to meet you, he has a knack for introductions'." She smiled. Her husband was the mayor after all, and he always wanted to introduce himself. He had a love for being friendly, warm, and open. At least, Elizabeth thought so. It sickened her just how friendly he was, and in return how friendly she had to be. "I do hope that everyone enjoys the movie, it took quite a bit of planning for everything to fall into place." Her false smile still held tightly to her lips.
