Unpacking One Life for Another [Caroline/Beth]

Not even two weeks had gone by, and Rosina still hadn't even settled in since arriving in Westborough. Granted, she didn't own many things of value when she traveled to this old house. Her luggage consisted nothing other than clothes, book, dishes, and the car she came she drove into town with. Also, the fact that her mother's house (which she inherited as a peace offering) still had furniture inside helped ease the burden of unloading any of her things. Still, living out of suitcases and boxes wasn't exactly an appealing lifestyle either.

At least her supervisor at the hospital was gracious enough to give her a couple days off after her shift the other night. Since the town was fairly small compared to most bigger cities she was familiar in working with, it was likely that the medical center wouldn't even break down with her absence. Plus, she assured the hospital that she would be on call if someone needed her there in case of emergency.

If the likelihood of a serious emergency was even possible. From what she could learn, this town of her mother's was quiet... almost eerily so. Honestly, how had her mother, as strong and fiery as she was towards her own children growing up, could ever have lived in a place like this? "That's probably why she left as soon as she was able to," Roz mused to herself, as she leaned on the kitchen counter with a hot cup of tea in hand. The thought of her own mother, Evangeline Laveau, running away from something, however, was strange to imagine. Unless, perhaps, it must have been something else. "Huh. I suppose she really did love dad then?" she added, pausing to sip the liquid and take in the warm steam that rose up to her cheeks. Rosina's eyes gazed up languidly at the still unopened boxes in front of her and sighed.

If only the Gods, spirits, someone, could intervene and pull her away from this tedious chore.
