Vashti laid on the couch, reading one of her all time favorite novels. She turned the page, sighing silently as she thought about her past. Her parents had disappeared without a trace, leaving her to watch over her siblings herself. She has an older brother who left home ten years ago, she hadn't heard or seen him since the day he had moved out after having a fight with their parents. Vashti slowly shifted to her feet, setting her book down on the coffee table and standing to her feet she walked into the kitchen to grab an empty glass from the cupboard. She put the glass on the counter and opened the refrigerator to get a huge bottle of water out. Pouring some water into her glass she ponders her past again, how it was so much better when everybody was home instead of gone. She places the huge bottle of water back on the shelf in the refrigerator and closes the door, setting her glass cup in the sink she slowly walks back into the living room. Her phone vibrates and she picks it up to see a message, reading it she is reminded by her sister that they were getting together in thirty minutes. She messages back, telling that she was leaving right now, puts her phone in her pocket, grabs her wallet and sticks it in her back pocket, and grabs her keys that has her apartment and car keys on it and goes to the front door, opening it she takes a step outside, closing the door behind her and slowly walks down the steps towards her car. As she steps off the side walk she slowly makes her way to a small red car, sticking the key in the door she unlocks it and gets inside, closing the door behind her. She puts the key in the engine and starts up the car before putting it in reverse, making sure nobody was behind her as she did so. Now out of the parking spot she puts the car in gear and drives onto the open road.

Vashti's phone vibrates again and she reaches down to pull it out of her pocket so that she may read the message. There is a noise, somebody had honked at her for swerving into their land. Well sorry... we can't all be perfect drivers like you... She thinks angrily to herself as she pulls up into a parking spot outside her sister's apartment. She sends a text to her sister, allowing her to know she was outside waiting for her to come out so that they could go out to the diner and grab a bite before they are separated once more. Her sister comes out and waits for Vashti to unlock the door for her before she jumps into the front seat. Vashti puts the car into reverse and when clear she puts the car in gear and drives out of the lot. A few minutes on the road and she turns into the lot where the diner was located, parking the car she steps out of the car, locking the doors after her sister had finished getting out herself. The two girls slowly walk towards the entrance to the diner, arms in arms, thinking to themselves what they were going to order.
